Lewis and Clark College Offers Robust German Studies Program

Christopher Roberts, president of the Universal Music Group Classics and Jazz division, modernized the branding of his division’s labels to achieve a more contemporary look. Before launching his career as a Universal Music executive, Christopher Roberts studied at Lewis & Clark College, majoring in music and German literature.

Lewis & Clark College offers a robust German studies program, exposing students to multiple components of German culture, including language, literary, and cultural studies. Students studying German as a foreign language can choose from beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses.

While classroom language learning is beneficial, foreign language students really see progress when immersed in a country where the language is spoken. Lewis & Clark provides the opportunity for all German majors to spend one year abroad, studying at the University of Munich. After graduation, many German majors find jobs teaching, translating, or interpreting, as well as in business or governmental areas where foreign language skills provide an advantage.
